Dove Nutrium Moisture Body Wash

What Dove say:

What I say:

I was recently contacted by a Dove representative to review their new 'Nutrium' body wash products which unfortunately are not yet available in Ireland but are available in the US since Summer. My parcel arrives and I was happily surprised to see not just a couple of samples to test but three full size body washes, one regular body wash, one sensitive body wash and one exfoliating body wash.

I tried the regular body wash myself the following morning - in a rush but was pleasantly surprised at how soft and moisturised my skin felt, it felt as if I had already applied lotion, this was the most striking difference between my usual body wash and Doves new 'Nutrium' body wash, the smell was light and fresh and I have to say was extremely gentle in sensitive areas if you catch my drift! This all had me hooked as most of us are in a rush showering in the morning and can't afford the time to let body lotion soak in etc. this body wash is the answer.

Later that evening I tried out the sensitive body wash on my four year old son who used to suffer from eczema as a small baby but has since grown out of it but we always use organic products on him, Dove's 'Nutrium' body wash for sensitive skin did not cause any irritation what-so-ever and left my sons skin less dull looking.

A couple of days later I tried out Doves new 'Nutrium' exfoliation body wash and while it had everything to offer that the regular body wash had it also contained little exfoliation beads, I found the beads to be a little sparse and perhaps not rough enough for me, I didn't feel they were doing any work but rather just running over my skin, but perhaps this would be a perfect alternative for sensitive skin - a little too gentle for me.

All in all I would offer Doves new 'Nutrium' range an overall 9/10 but being totally honest I am in love with the body wash, it has ticked all the boxes for me.

Cosmetic Hygiene

Hi all!
I recieved an e-mail last week from one of the readers of my beauty column in the Galway Advertiser after I did a piece on cosmetic hygiene and I wanted to share it with you all as it will really make you think:
Dear Malvina,
I was most interested in your article in the current edition of The Galway Advertiser which I read on line. I am a Galway girl! When our then teenage daughter began to use cosmetics her father while on a trip to the UK brought her back a beautiful Boots No. 7 eye make up palette. Need I tell you that I had told him exactly what to buy her? It was her heart's delight and the envy of her friends. She was warned over and over NOT to share cosmetics.Being a teenager she did just that. There was an outbreak of conjunctivitis among her friends and our daughter used a mascara wand belonging to one of her friends when they were at a disco one night.Yes, she got conjunctivitis. It was duly treated but at the same time I was being tested for new glasses etc. by a most respected optimetrist here in Tralee. I told him about our daughter and the eye infection. Having heard she was having medical treatment he then told me that to get rid of the conjunctivitis for good she must dump EVERYTHING on her dressing table including even her cleanser. Then for six months just wash her face daily with a very mild soap and to have her own towel and for six months not to put anything, not even face cream on her face. There were such tears as all her beloved lotions, potions, pots and paints including the treasured eye make up palette had to be put in the dustbin but conjunctivitis can destroy the eyesight.During the six months she did exactly what she was told and I bought her some cosmetics to have in readiness. The conjunctivitis never returned.Another friend whose daughter also had conjunctivitis at the same time told me that her doctor said there was no need to stop using contact lenses temporarily or to dump the cosmetics and just clean the face with mild soap. This girl was tormented with repeated doses of conjunctivitis for years, ignored all advice to put the contact lenses aside etc. and now some of the cells in both eyes are destroyed. She has eyesight but one wonders about it in years to come. Thought I would share this with you. Thank you for your tip about the make up sponges.......must get rid of some of mine!
With every good wish,
Yours sincerely
Mary

Cope Make A Star Fashion Show

What a day....and night! It was so great to be part of this fashion show again this year. The day started off at 3pm meeting at Fringe Benefits in Doughiska where all the models were gathered to have their hair done and makeup applied. Once everyone was beautified, we moved on to the Raddison where the buzz and atmosphere was mounting.

Mandy from the Catwalk Model Agency put the ladies through their paces while I caught up with Clare O'Regan of Core Photography who was the photographer on the night - gifted woman! http://www.corephotography.ie/.
Malvina the makeup artist with Karen Koster of TV3's Xposé
The green room was packed and hectic while out front was calm and organised! Karen Koster of Xposé was the MC on the night, pictured here with me. She was a lovely, warm, friendly person and did a fantastic job on the evening.
There was a massive number of fashion houses who's labels were modelled on the night together with an absolutely stunning show of diamonds by Cara Jewellers.
All in all the night was a super success and well deserved funds were raised for Cope Galway who support the homeless on our streets as well as meals on wheels and support for the elderly.
